Despite the emerging 37th birthday, Anquan Boldin has no plans to retire and put an end to his NFL career. Instead, he’s waiting for training camp to be just around the corner, with a Detroit Lions reunion looking very likely.

Bob Quinn, the Lions general manager, has been in contact with Boldin, who has 14 NFL seasons on his track record, and is planning on making it 15. The door seems to be open for Boldin to return, only the wide receiver has no plans of coming in early, and is probably trying to see what other options open up for him in the next couple of months or so, and maybe wait out even longer.

Boldin went with the same approach last season before signing with the Lions. He played in all 16 games for them, finishing with 65 receptions for 8 touchdowns and 584 yards. Used almost as a tight end these days, Boldin doesn’t have the speed to get open for big plays (8.7 yards per reception last season), but he’s still a big target with great hands that is very dangerous on third downs and red-zone situations.

A Super Bowl champion with the Ravens from over four years ago, Boldin has been in the NFL since 2003, playing for the Cardinals, Ravens, 49ers and Lions. He’s a 3-time Pro Bowler with one 2nd team All-Pro mention, finishing with over 1000 receiving yards in a season 7 times throughout his career. He’s 9th all-time in receptions (3rd among active receivers), 14th in career receiving yards (4th among active receivers) and 23rd all-time in career touchdowns with 82, putting him at 3rd among active wide receivers and tight ends.
